The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is represented this year by the competence cluster for nutrition and cardio-vascular health (nutriCARD) and the Leibniz ScienceCampus Halle - Plant-based Bioeconomy (WCH).
The competence cluster nutriCARD wants to improve the health of the population in the long term - through a healthier diet. To this end, since 2015 around 40 scientists and 80 project partners have been working closely together at the Universities of Halle, Jena and Leipzig. nutriCARD stands for valid, scientifically proven, evidence-based information. The ScienceCampus Halle has been dealing since 2011 with the topic of bioeconomy, which is important for the food sector. In addition to new bio-based processes and ingredients for a healthier and more sustainable diet, the challenges of food security is paramount against the background of a growing world population and crop losses through the effects of climate change.
